Serial no. 4419x. Manufactured in 1891 by Ludwig Loewe & Co., Berlin, chambered in 8mm, 29½” round barrel. Bore is bright with strong, well-defined rifling noted. Serial numbers are non-matching, reflecting the rifle’s long military service and later Turkish reissue. The rear sight has been welded to the barrel jacket, which displays scattered dents and service wear. Stock shows expected handling and usage impressions consistent with age and military service. An interesting antique Gewehr 88 displaying evidence of its transition from late-19th-century German manufacture to subsequent Turkish military service, representative of the long service lives of these Commission rifles. Action functions correctly.
