Shipping & FFL Transfer Policy
All firearms shipped from Montana Gun Shop go FFL-to-FFL. We do not ship handguns or long guns directly to a residential address — federal law requires firearms be transferred through a licensed dealer.
Shipping Times
- In-stock items: Ships within 2 business days of FFL paperwork verification
- Standard ground: 3-7 business days to most addresses in the lower 48
- Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico: 7-14 business days, additional shipping cost may apply
- Ammunition: Ground only (HazMat fee may apply); not shipped via air
How FFL Transfer Works
- You buy from us and provide your local FFL’s name and contact info at checkout.
- Your FFL emails their license copy to us (or you forward it).
- We ship the firearm to your FFL — typically next-business-day after license verification.
- Your FFL receives the firearm, runs your 4473 background check, and releases it to you.
Your FFL may charge a transfer fee (typically $25–$50). That fee is paid directly to your FFL — not to us.
States We Cannot Ship To (Specific Items)
Certain magazines, suppressors, SBRs, and configurations are restricted in some states. Restricted states include CA, NY, NJ, MA, CT, IL, HI, MD, DC, and others depending on item. If your shipping address is in one of these states, we will only ship items legal under your state law. We reserve the right to cancel orders that violate state firearm regulations.
Tracking
Tracking number is emailed automatically when your shipment leaves our facility. Insurance is included on every firearm shipment.
