Mossberg built the Targo Model 320TR only from 1960 to 1962, and this one carries no serial number. It is a single-shot bolt action in .22 with a smooth bore, made to take either a rifled or a smoothbore muzzle insert; the smoothbore insert comes with this gun. The 24-inch round barrel has iron sights, the safety is on the side, and the wood stock keeps its original butt plate.
Condition is very good for a rifle of this age, with light wear and handling marks and an excellent bore. It is a simple single-shot for plinking, for teaching new shooters, or for filling a gap in a Mossberg collection, and the insert system is what makes it unusual. It is not a big-game rifle; Montana's Oct. 24 to Nov. 29 deer and elk season is a job for something else, and this one stays on the small-bore range.
