Pattern 1859 British Sergeant’s Smooth-Bore Fusil

A British military long gun of the Enfield pattern of 1859: a sergeant's smooth-bore fusil in .656 caliber with a 30-inch round barrel. The bore is described as good, and roughly 95 percent of an old arsenal refinish blue remains on the metal. The lock carries 1859 over the Enfield name, with faint traces of the large crown at the rear and a clearer crown over broad arrows toward the front. On the left side of the barrel, under the rear sight, are the marks N·S over HAR.

The stock is in very good shape with no cracks or chips, apart from a small loss on the right just below the rear sight. The action works as it should, and both sling swivels and the cleaning rod are still with the gun. The supplier notes that this Enfield variant is seldom encountered. It is filed as a used antique long gun and suits a Montana collector of British military arms rather than a hunter.
