This used Winchester Model 70 Featherweight is a modern-production bolt-action in 30-06 Springfield, serial 35EZV01719, with a 22-inch round barrel and blued metal. The bolt is jeweled, and the floor plate carries an engraved inlay for the NRA, set in a nicely figured checkered walnut stock. The supplier rates the rifle in excellent condition overall.

A 22-inch 30-06 bolt gun is the kind of rifle that covers both deer and elk through the Montana general season, Oct. 24 to Nov. 29, and FWP places no caliber limit on rifles for game animals. The Featherweight pattern keeps the weight down for a hunter covering ground, and the NRA inlay and figured walnut make this one a rifle to use with care rather than drag through the brush. Wear 400 square inches of hunter orange above the waist during rifle season, and check whether your district is a weapons restriction area before you carry a rifle in.
